I can't believe it, that
January 28, 2006 at 8:21 pm #551GwegKeymasterWow, that really blows. So far, I've never actually got anything that had
a rebate at Best Buy, but I could see how something like that is nice to have. Yeah, if they get rid of the
rebates, they should lower their prices, cuz I know they usually have higher prices from the start. I think
the cheapest thing I ever got there was Unreal Tournament 2003 for $20.
January 28, 2006 at 8:29 pm #552D-RAYMACParticipantIf you read the article fully, it states that they are gonna use an online rebate of
sorts. I would much rather do that than using snail mail. I have seen more and more online stores use these
“instant rebates” or instant savings. I wonder if they take the price down for you and cash that rebate
for themselves? Hmmm…..I ponder yet life goes on around me….lol
January 28, 2006 at 8:34 pm #553GwegKeymasterI see, yeah, internet rebates would probably make things quicker, or even better,
instant rebates would be great. I mean, why should we wait to save?
January 29, 2006 at 12:14 am #554tcolvinMIKeymasterInternet rebates seem to be the way to go. I mean ideally you'd want to do
it that way because its more efficient than waiting for someone to sort through it in the mail. Hell, I could
write something that posts to a database then sends an email alert to John Q RebateMoneyPerson every time a rebate
is to be redeemed. Even better would be to post the rebate form, then post an alert that asks if you want to
print the check or not. If you opt not to print the check, then the alert stays there until you print the
check. As long as they remember to mail it. So much for waiting 8-10 weeks for your rebate check.
Be there in more like 8-10 days. How sweet would that be.
Somehow I feel like Michael Bolton from
Office Space all the sudden.
January 29, 2006 at 12:48 am #555GwegKeymasterHaha, Michael Bolton!! Yeah, 8-10 days would be much sweeter than 8-10 weeks
(and sometimes when it takes that long, you never get your rebate, has happened to me before).
January 29, 2006 at 12:51 am #556tcolvinMIKeymasterWhen the rebate came for my DSL modem, I almost threw it away because it looked like
junk mail from SBC. Good thing. I would have hated to throw away $50.
January 29, 2006 at 1:08 am #557GwegKeymasterYeah, that would have sucked real bad.
March 26, 2018 at 10:40 pm #219tcolvinMIKeymasterSo this is some crap. I read on Slashdot and Ars Technica that Best Buy is going
to stop their mail in rebate program. I dont know about the rest of you, but when I purchase something from
best buy, the chances of it having a mail in rebate are close to 100%. I hope if they stop the rebate program
that they lower their prices a bit. Otherwise, Im strictly shopping online from now on.
Anyway, here's the article:
