My favorite Microsoft story starts with a programming instructor at a college who created a cool interface to help his students with their programming. Microsoft likes the interface and asks the Prof. if they could use it in their next programming software, he says yes. Microsoft acknowledges that they are using the interface form the Prof. in the program and then tries to patent the interface as their own invention before the public outcry causes them to withdraw the patent. Microsoft says “Whoops we actually didn't mean to try to patent that, it was a mistake.”
Came across this article on Digg. Very much like when you go to the doctor and tell him it hurts when I do this, so the doctor says, Dont do that.
