Wow, that mess was amazing.  The problems you get when you:

    – Don't plan
    – Don't care
    – Hire idiots to do your work

Probably missing a few, but those are the basics.

You know, Tim, and Danny can tell you this, the radio station's racks look as bad as those first couple pictures, and you know what's worse, NOTHING is labeled.  Talk about a nightmare.  Of course, Danny gets to spend next month reorganizing that.  I do not envy him.

Okay, I'm an idiot, posted wrong link.  Here's the correct one:

Yeah, I'm surprised that cases aren't more protected than they are.  They make filters for fans, to keep most of the dust out, but that's usually the only thing I've seen.

I've solved the problem with the cat doing what he pleases against the case, but it does look like I need to swap cases.  The thing still acts up, plus on top I'm getting a floppy disk fail on POST, and Windows keeps gripping about an unrecognized USB device.  It's driving me nuts.  I'll have to tear back into that case and do the swap here within the next couple of weeks.

Yeah, I've noticed before that once I burn a CD (data), I can't get it to read on anything thing or any other computer except on the drive that it was burned on.  Didn't always do it, just from time to time.  The type of software used didn't seem to matter, and the same settings that were always used to burn were unchanged.

Sometimes I noticed that was Windows acting strange with it, and sometimes I noticed it only happened with certain brands of CD's, and a big important factor I've found out is burning speed.  I've had all kinds of trouble burning CD's over 16X, even ones that supported higher speeds (can't burn audio CD's over 24X anyway due to the white noise that can get introduced).

I've just learned over time, that good brand CD's (I've had my best luck with Sony's and the older Durabrand/Walmart gray CD's), and giving a few extra minutes for the burn (16X or slower), usually gives me the best, most predictable results.

Although, that hasn't always worked.  Some CD's that won't read on other PC's, I've just usually given up on it, or tried later.

(Also burning in old 8+3 file names, instead of using Joilet format has solved some of my issues too.)

I think I might have figured out the problem.

After I cleaned everything, and put it back together tonight.  I hit the power button and it wouldn't turn on.  Ok, so I'm thinking maybe I knocked something loose.  Opened it back up, every connection was still good.  So, I plugged it in, tired again, nothing.  So, I just start pushing the button over and over.  Finally it boots up.

So, I'm thinking, due to all the presents left by the cat, the button on the case is shorting out, which would explain why the computer kept powering itself up and down.  I'll see how long this holds out, and if I have too, I put everything into one of the older Tiger cases I have in the basement.

Okay, so I go out to my car today to run some errands — it's parked up and around the block (the street I live on is still being worked on).  As soon as I get there, I noticed this white 'substance' all over my car.  As far as I could tell, it looked as if someone had poured milk all over the roof and hood of my Buick.  They must have done it sometime last night, cuz it was not like that before I left for Zanesville last night.

Yesterday was just a bad day, and this car does not deserve that crap that it has been getting lately.

So, with all the wonderful, super happy events (it's sarcastic) that have happened in 2008, not just with the country, but in my life (add another computer issue today), Bad Luck and I are becoming very best friends.

I'm gonna be driving the Bonneville as soon as the rain quits, hopefully it won't see the same crap next week as the LeSabre saw this week.

Well, this problem is on hold right now.

My dad's computer decided to start acting strange today.

Yeah, if I had a spare IDE I'd try it.  Hard part would be getting it to act up.  It's so random.  Well, all my important data is get externally, and if something in that computer decides it wants to screw with Windows again, it can.  I'll just reload and go about my business.

Practically impossible to find an AMD64 754 board anymore.  I'll just go with it, not too big of a deal right now.  If I had the spare cash, I'd get a PS unit for my workstation, and get that thing back up and running.  It'd be nice to use that thing again.

Oh, something else.  Get this, I gave myself some distance from this guy, and I barely made a light.  To keep up with me, he blatantly ran a red light.  I just kinda wish I knew what I did to that guy.  Guess there's just some crazies out there.

Yeah, another older topic, but I decided to take a look at it.

The link for your test, Tim, is probably outdated, as I'm sure you maybe have something newer, but I tell ya, I like how it works, especially loading the forum into the same page.

I know I need to get some more images done for you, just been kinda busy.  Also, I want to use a fancier 404 and 401 page, like we used to have for the older MI/MP site, if possible.  Might pop around later tonight to take a look at a couple of things.

Ha, yep, though your signature is very important in these tough times, ha!  Anyway, I've been trying to think of some other ones that I would like to make, but can't come up with anything cool enough yet.  This one was just kind of a spur of the moment thing, and turned out really well.  If I try too hard, my not get something as cool.

Sounds like a good idea.  I was kind of thinking about something like this a little while ago.  It'd be nice if we could have a section that is part of the board, but kind of separate in a way, kinda of how like at the Bonneville Club forum, they have their regular boards, but for their tech articles/tutorials, they have a separate section of the boards.

    Link: http://www.pontiacbonnevillecl…..m.php?f=38

They make them like articles that users can't really post in, but provide very useful information.  I kinda like that setup, and we could try and do it that way, unless, you, Tim, have any idea on something.

Old article, but, I feel like posting about this.

Tim, I know the feeling.  And I'm going to say this, HP and Dell are some of the worst.  For those built systems that you get, if they don't include all the drivers on some sort of disk (be it CD, DVD, floppy, etc), to me, that says someone isn't doing their job.  If you have to go to the website, they should offer 2 choices, a package of drivers of all the drivers for that pre-built system, or individual drivers, incase you want to update the video drivers, and say, not the bus drivers.

So many times have I gone to HP's site (I'm not even going to get into Dell's), and have not been able to find either; either by model/serial number of the system, or the type and model of a specific piece of hardware.

That is why I'm such a big fan of custom built systems.  Manufacturers of their own hardware seem to be better at posting drivers, updated drivers, and in a place where you can easily find them.

That's all I feel like saying for now.

I agree with Tim, when I first got interested in modding my Buick, I was everywhere on the internet.  Mainly random forums (that had no relation to my car), and seeing what other people on CarDomain did to their Buick's (mainly LeSabre's and Park Avenue's).

The forum I found that has been the most useful to me is:

http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/ — tons of friendly folks who know what they're doing, and lots of good info
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/ — this is the old site (a lot of nasty stuff behind the scenes that made most of the people move to the above board); I mainly use it for archived information

Since both of my cars are GM H-bodies, and both powered by 3800's (Buick is a Series I – Pontiac is a Series II), the Bonneville Club has come in very handy.

Another good site for GM 3800 powered cars is:

Yeah, like I said earlier, when you get the chance, we'll make a junkyard run for those seatbelts.

Also, dude, once you get those LED's into your instrument cluster, it's gonna look hellasweet, I like the ones in my Buick (I need to tear back into it cuz I had one that went out, and I either need to replace it or just tighten it).
