Well one of the largest problems is that these companies want their OS's out as fast as they can

get them.  This means they put there programmers on deadlines that are too tight to create efficient

code.  This passes the burden to the testers who are also on a tight deadline and aren't given enough time

to find all of the bugs.  They then add quick fix patches that just stop the small problems that are only signs

of a much larger issue. Then when they create a new OS they build it on top of the old OS code to get it out faster,

adding to the complexity without fixing the inefficient code; and they do this over and over.  An image comes

to mind of building a pyramid point down.

Plus there are the hackers, viruses, and security holes to take

    into account.

That is awesome, I haven't come across a byte line before in any of the (few) programming classes

I have had, although Im guessing it partitions a measurement of cake.  The foreach line is easy.  That is

    really cool.

I use FF2 and I haven't seen any difference between this version and the original.  It works

fine, I haven't run into any problems.  I'm not touching IE7.

Thats awesome, front page and everything.  I liked the comment that it should be

a group project so the class learns how to work with a bunch morons, although the reply is true that it would only

    encourage leaching.

Iv found the exact same thing, the internet is really boring.  I go to four sites and thats it, I

look at game reviews and web comics and I look through the wow forums because I find the mentally retarded people

who post there really funny.  Other then that there is just nothing to do on the internet.

Liberi Fatali was amazing to start out the show with.  Zelda and MGS was awesome

too.  They played the hyrule symphony song with all of the zelda themes together it was great.

I have only seen this on internet pages, I don't use IE(although I think AOL is

IE). I think it has just started recently.  Not really a huge thing because it happens so infrequently but I

just thought it was a very strange problem to have come across.  I'm sure I have the most up to date flash

and the updated firefox.  It has only happened twice so far, once when my mom was trying to fill out something

on geico.com and once when I was trying to post about my flash interface on this forum.  I know AOL sucks but

it's the only ISP we have ever had and my parents don't want to change.

I took IEB off and I reinstalled media player but it just doesnt work online

anymore.  Codecs used to watch user created vids like animes usually do the same thing to the online media

    player.

That user state migration sounds awesome, will probably be hard as hell to set up thought.  Ah yes

I see its command line based which means only about 5%(if that) of people will even know how to use it.

Wow thats amazing, I'll be doing that next time windows starts freaking out,

which is probably soon.  The windows install on here is the same one from last summer when I got this computer,

I'm pretty happy that it's held up all this time.

The only thing I can think of is as a tech topic is, why is windows media player so

fragile?  I have found that it will completely wack out and error all over the place if you change or install

the smallest things.  Such as adding a codec and suddenly it wont work again unless you reinstall

windows.  One problem I found recently was that I tried out the new IE Beta and after I installed it not only

did IE Beta crap out on the school websites im taking my online classes on but media player didn't work

anymore, iv uninstalled IEB and it still doesn

Iv never had super serious computer problems like both of you seem to get multiple times every year.

Once my hard drive died and once a cd exploded in the drive while I was playing a game, thats about it.  The

only odd computer thing I have now is the zombie case fan, a case fan iv never heard before suddenly came groaning

to life, every once in a while it will stop but it always comes back to life, it's strange.

I'm happy to say I have yet to crack the seal on my case since I got this computer in early summer.  Wow

alienware makes some great computers, it's a crime against humanity that dell bought them out.
